Instructor development
Instructor
The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is made up of two parts - the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Most dive professionals complete the entire IDC and go on to attend an Instructor Examination (IE), which is the final step to earning a PADI Instructor certification. It is also an option to complete the Assistant instructor course as a stand-alone course.
Successfully completing just the AI course results in a PADI Assistant Instructor qualification. When an AI is ready to progress, attending an OWSI program allows entry into an IE exam to earn a full PADI Instructor rating.
At Bouley bay dive centre we generally will run an IDC each year or when we have a demand for it. You can sign up for the full program or the assistant instructor.
Once you complete the Instructor course with our staff instructors and course director that we bring over to jersey You will then be able to attend a PADI exam ( IE ). This will involve PADI coming over to examine you over two days.
Once you sign up you will meet with your staff instructors who will go through exactly what to expect, how to prepare, and answer any questions you may have.
You will work through your E-learning covering topics such as
Instruction and the PADI System
Risk Management and Diver Safety
The Business of Diving and your role as an instructor and more!
The course will be a mix of in-water sessions and dry workshops and discussions. During the sessions, you will develop your teaching skills and learn what you need to become a diving instructor. Part of the course will also include your EFR instructor course.
