Why is everyone paddle boarding?
So it seems Sup ( stand up paddle boarding ) is all the craze right now … but why ?
Paddleboarding is accessible to anyone and everyone of any age and any fitness level, everyone can do this sport in their own way at their own pace, enjoying and being with nature whilst getting a body and mind work out all at the same time. We all know how being outside with nature breathing fresh air is amazing to our mental health and of course, this kind of fitness beats being in a gym sweating over a running machine!
I started paddle boarding when I became so busy at work I would always miss the surf conditions whether it be the tide, the wind, or the swell! Paddleboarding seemed to be more available and less dependent on so many factors like surf…so I grabbed a board with my awesome paddleboard friend Tim Tredant and asked him to show me the ropes. I fell in love with the freedom of the sport and how it made me feel so alive and fit. I saw parts of the island I couldn’t see without my SUP. It didn’t matter if it was low or high tide like surfing there was always a spot to go.
The sport can develop however you want it to, you can stay kneeling, you can explore, you can go out with your friends’ dogs or kids, you can join a race club, you can even surf your SUP, you can yoga on your SUP.
I offer courses that teach you to have fun out there on your SUP no matter what your age or fitness level but also I have a strong emphasis on safety at sea. Check out our calendar on when you can join one of our SUP courses, or just get yourself to rent a SUP from us.
